3 Easy Ways Drinking Alcohol May Help You Lose Weight

Drinking alcohol is something that a lot of people enjoy. It’s something that you do in social situations and even in different cultures. There is a lot of discussion about how much alcohol can have an effect on your weight. This keeps people from enjoying their drinks when it shouldn’t be the case. While it can affect you weight in the long run, it’s not really in the way that you think.

The answer to your question is that yes alcohol can make you gain weight BUT if you’re doing it the right way then there shouldn’t be an effect on your weight. There are a lot of people that go on diets and wonder if they can still drink alcohol. The answer is yes. Everything is about balance so you also have to think about that when it comes to your alcohol consumption.

This doesn’t mean to just go ahead and drink a whole bottle of wine or indulge in many rounds of espresso martinis when you get off of work. This will hinder your weight loss more than help it. This just doesn’t mean that you have to stop drinking to be able to reach your goal body. With some tips, there is no reason why girls’ night out can’t still happen.

According to 28 By Sam Wood, your body loses weight when you use your fat for fuel. Drinking will slow down that process regardless but it doesn’t have to completely stop it:

  • One of the number one things to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t go overboard. This is what causes the calories overload. If you want to be able to keep a healthy and balanced lifestyle you need to learn how to manage all aspects of it, even the drinking one. It’s good to have a drink limit in your head before you go out. This will help teach you control so that you don’t let it overflow.
  • Another option can be to pick a healthier drink to go with for the night. Alcohol is known as empty calories because they don’t really provide many benefits to your body, just the calories. In this case, it’s always good to choose something that won’t overload your body with those pesky calories. It’s good to switch out your wines and margaritas for a vodka or tequila mix with club soda. This will provide you with fewer calories and still get the job done.
  • Hydrate! This one should be a no brainer It’s very important to stay hydrated on any time of the day but when you’re out drinking especially. It’s recommended to drink a glass of water after every alcoholic beverage that you have. This will help rehydrate you and after a couple of glasses of water you may even find that you don’t want any more beverages. Sometimes the need to drink alcohol comes from simply just wanted to have a glass in our hands at social events. Having a glass of water may keep you from going back to the bar.

Drinking is definitely a great past time for a lot of people. Sadly it can hinder your fitness journey if you go overboard. Having your favorite drink every once in a while won’t be bad for you.
