Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats-

Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats provide us with most of our energy. When you want to start on a diet plan, it’s important to keep your body balanced. Without one then your body will notice the difference. You have to make sure that you are getting a little bit of both because that is when you’ll start to get the most results. Let’s dive in deeper to see what each nutrient does to our body and how we could benefit from them.

Starting off with carbohydrates we want to keep in mind that most foods we eat contain carbs. This is because it plays a big part in the energy we have to get us through the day. Our body breaks down carbs into glucose or blood sugar. That is when our bloodstream uses that glucose as the energy for our body. Carbs are then broken down into two types. There are simple and complex carbohydrates:

  • Simple Carbohydrates- these are the small carbs that can be broken down quickly and are the quickest source of energy.
  • Complex Carbohydrates- these are larger molecules so they have to be broken down to simple carbs before they can be absorbed according to Merck Manual.

Next on the list is protein. Our body needs it to stay healthy and work the way it should. We have protein in many parts of our body from our organs to our muscles so it’s no secret that we need it to function the right way. Not giving our body the amount of protein that it needs, can lead to health issues in the future.

Protein plays a big part in muscle building to being deficient will break down tissue and even lead to muscle loss. The scary thing about protein is that taking in too much of it can have your body store it as excess fat. To keep it simple, everyone should have approximately 10-35% of his or her calories in protein each day.

Last on the list are fats. Not only are they used for energy but also for growth. This is the slowest source of energy but it’s very efficient in the form of food. Because of this, any excess amount of energy that we have, or body stores it as fat. Our body gets rid of it whenever it needs more energy. That is why we need energy when we are working out because that is where our energy is going to come from. That also plays a big part in how the fat burning process happens when we want to lose weight. That is why people ingest less fat when they want to lose more weight.
