2 Common Autoimmune Diseases To Look At-

Our immune system is in charge of making sure that we stay healthy all year long. It helps our body fight off diseases and so much more. Our immune system guards us when it senses foreign invaders. In a normal world, the immune system can usually tell the difference between foreign cells and the ones that come from our own body. In the rare cases that it doesn’t this is called an autoimmune disease.

According to Healthline, an autoimmune disease is when your immune system mistakes your body’s own cells for foreign ones and it attacks them. It releases antibodies that attack the healthy cells you have which can become crucial. When it comes to an autoimmune disease, doctors don’t really know why someone’s immune system would attack the healthy cells in the body. This makes it a lot harder to give the full information that’s needed. Not only that but there are different autoimmune diseases that target different organs in the body.

  • One of the more common types of autoimmune diseases is Type 1 Diabetes. This is when your immune system attacks the insulin producing cells in your pancreas. This creates a problem because we need insulin to help regulate our blood sugar levels.
  • Another common one is Psoriasis. Our skin cells will usually grow and shed normally as a way of getting rid of the skin that’s no longer needed. Psoriasis will cause your skin to multiply too quickly. Because of this the skin cells will build up and form red patches.

Because of the fact that no one really knows the main cause of an autoimmune disease, it’s hard to understand who may be at risk. Millions of people around the world can acquire one of the many diseases but it has been said by MedlinePlus that women tend to get it more often than men. If you notice anything out of the ordinary that’s going on with your body then it’s important to contact your doctor.

They will then conduct a series of tests to try and understand what could be going wrong. Because a lot of the symptoms of an autoimmune disease correlate with other conditions, coming up with a more definite answer may take longer than you would expect. It’s good to learn more about your family history and what health problems that your family might have or had. It’s also a good idea to keep track of your symptoms and their progression so that when you go to the doctors it may make it easier.

Once you get a diagnosis from your doctor, the next step is to seek treatment. Sadly, there is no cure for autoimmune diseases. One thing that can be done is trying to use these treatments to reduce any pain or inflammation. They may be able to calm the overactive immune response to make it a bit easier to deal with.

At The IV Lounge we offer many difference services to tend to different conditions. One of the services we offer is our Immune Support Cocktail. It’s an IV bag that’s filled with Vitamin C and Zinc so that your immune system can stay strong. The Vitamin C that’s used acts like an antiviral immune response mediator while the Zinc is used to reduce the duration of symptoms brought on by the common cold. Putting both of these together this Cocktail is a great way for you to gain some relief and work on getting your immune system to become stronger. Make sure to give us a call or visit our website to schedule your appointment today.
