Should You Eat Before Your Workout?

The fitness world is so intricate and complex that for anyone wanting to start their fitness journey, they should definitely do some research. One of the biggest controversies is whether or not you should eat before a workout. We all know eating after a workout is very important but is that importance the same as before you workout?

A lot of people have been backing the claim that fasted workouts, cardio to be more specific, can really help in the weight loss process. With that being said, making the decision to eat before a morning workout depends on your goals, intensity of the workout, and your individual health in general. You have to keep in mind that if you’re going to do a fasted workout as soon as you wake up you haven’t had anything to eat in a couple of hours. According to Healthline your blood sugar levels are a lot lower. This can make you feel more sluggish and tired during your workout.

If you want to go the fasted cardio route you should take some things into consideration. You have to remember you aren’t at your strongest when you wake up. Going into a full workout without any fuel can actually keep you from performing as best as you can. When you wake up it’s important to listen o your body. If you feel strong enough to do a full workout without tiring out then it’s a great tool to lose weight. If you feel like you can’t complete a full workout then it’s perfectly okay to snack on something before you head out of the door.

Eating before your workout isn’t the worst thing that you can do. It’s possible to fuel yourself the right way so that you can still get as many gains from your workout as possible. Around 30-60 minutes before your workout you can have a carbohydrate rich snack. Some options can be fruit, slice of toast, or even a granola bar. This will help get your body some of the fuel it needs to get through the workout. Nt only that but make sure you’re drinking plenty f water after your snack so that you can help your body digest it quicker.

If you do something intense like a boxing workout, you may want to consider not eating.

Now you’ve gotten through your workout and you know that you have to eat something. It’s important to keep in mind that you should eat within an hour of working out. Some of the best food groups to keep in mind is carbohydrates and proteins. They will help replenish your muscles and speed up the recovery time. Not only that but they will have many benefits towards your gains. Some foods you should keep in mind are:

  • Chocolate Milk
  • Nuts
  • Smoothie with protein
  • Cheese with fruit
  • Hard Boiled Egg and fruit

Keeping in mind all these tips will help transform your workouts. Once you’ve applied all of it, you’ll start to notice how you feel much better going into your workouts and even how much better you’re performing. At the end of the day you have to keep in mind that everyone’s body works differently. What works for one person may not work for you. That is why you should do research and test some different way that you have found.
