Vitamin D3 Mocktails with grapefruit and mint

3 Delicious Vitamin D3 Infused Mocktails

In a perfect world, every person would get the Vitamin D they need from spending time outdoors and eating a whole, nutrient dense, diet… but the modern lifestyle doesn’t always allow for these luxuries. This is why around 40% of the U.S. population is affected by Vitamin D deficiency.

Thankfully, there are many ways to get an adequate amount of Vitamin D outside of the sun – like these healthy and refreshing mocktails! These serving sizes are great for making cocktails for yourself, and friends or family

Why your Vitamin D3 intake matters

Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin and essential for our health. It is important both for bone health (to prevent osteoporosis) and for immune system function. Vitamin D3 can also have positive effects on brain function, including the prevention of depression and improved cognition.

If you’re not getting enough Vitamin D, it may have other biological effects. Researchers are still exploring the role of vitamin D3 in muscle strength and athletic performance, and cardiovascular health. Vitamin D3 has a number of roles that may benefit your health:

  • Vitamin D3 helps regulate calcium absorption in your gut. It also helps your body use calcium efficiently by increasing its absorption from food or supplements. This leads to stronger bones (which is why many people take vitamin D supplements to prevent osteoporosis).
  • Recent studies indicate that higher blood levels are linked to better bone density, which may reduce your risk of fracture later in life.
  • Some evidence suggests that low levels of vitamin D might increase risk for heart disease because it’s involved with regulating calcium levels in cells throughout the body.

That’s why it’s important to eat a diet with foods that are rich in this essential vitamin. Vitamin D supplements, including our favorite IV lounge Vitamin D3 droppers will be included in the following recipes, are a healthy and convenient way to mitigate the chance of deficiency. Our liquid drops contain 10,000 IU of Vitamin D3 to enhance bodily absorption of calcium and phosphorous to support healthy teeth and bones, cardiovascular function, and immune health.

Let’s get to the mocktails

Fizzy Blueberry Lemonade (1 large pitcher)

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup white sugar (superfine is best)
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 and 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (~4-5 whole large lemons)
  • IV Lounge Vitamin D3 Droppers
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 3 cups sparkling water or club soda (my favorite is sparkling lemon lime water)

Directions:

  • Combine the sugar, water, blueberries, and lemon zest in a saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat and then simmer on low for 5-10 minutes until the sugar is melted and blueberries are starting to burst.
  • Remove from the heat and pass through a fine sieve. Let this blueberry syrup completely cool.
  • Meanwhile, juice the lemons for 1 cup of lemon juice.
  • In a large pitcher, add the blueberry syrup, lemon juice, and ice. Stir together.
  • Stir in the sparkling water or club soda RIGHT before enjoying (don’t add sparkling water/club soda to anything you plan on having leftover)
  • Distribute your glasses and beverages, stir in 1 ml of IV Lounge Vitamin D3 droppers before serving friends and family
  • Enjoy!
