#1 way to get rid of the Hangover Blues

hangover

Hangover Blues It’s the morning after a night out with your friends and you’re starting to feel the lingering effects of all the alcohol. As soon as the sunlight hits your eyes you immediately know what’s going on. You have a hangover. While alcohol is the number one culprit behind this. What a lot of people may not know is that there can also be many other facts MIXED with alcohol that makes you feel so unpleasant. A hangover is basically just a name that we put to some unpleasant signs of going a bit overboard with the drinking. A lot of the time it depends on how your body works. There are people that can drink just one glass and will feel heavy effects. There are others who can drink all night long and completely avoid it the next day. This is why there are so many factors to a hangover than just the alcohol you consume. While alcohol may be a trigger for a plethora of things to happen, watch out for some of these causes: The alcohol in your body will cause you to produce more urine, in turn leading to dehydration. Alcohol can cause your blood sugar to fall. This is when fatigue will set in along with mood disturbances. This is a big one because it seems to be a big factor in hangovers. According to Mayo Clinic, alcohol will cause your blood vessels to expand which leads to headaches. While this one is a contradiction in itself, it is so true. Alcohol makes you sleepy but causes sleep disturbances. You’ll see that it’s harder to have a full night’s rest after a night of drinking. Now, this is what you’ve probably been waiting for. How do you prevent said hangovers from occurring? This isn’t a fool safe plan but it can help alleviate some of the symptoms. This way, it won’t feel like the world is against you in the morning. Before going out make sure that you eat! We all know that drinking on an empty stomach, more often than not, will not help you. Another trick is to eat while drinking. This will help absorb some of the alcohol in your stomach. Sipping some water in between drinks will keep you more hydrated and won’t let the alcohol dry you up like a raisin. Knowing your limit is a very important point. While it may be fun to go rouge every once in a while, knowing how your body reacts to the alcohol is a very important tip to avoiding bad hangovers. One more tip that you may not know about is an intravenous hangover cure. This is where fluids are injected into your bloodstream to counteract the effects of a hangover. They will help make you feel like a new person. At the IV Lounge we have an After Party Cocktail that will completely erase the effects of being over served. It has a blend of vitamins and antioxidants that are put together for that reason specifically. Make sure to visit us so that we can make sure the effects of last night don’t linger all day.       Bibliography Mayo Clinic Staff. 3 stages To Growing Healthier Hair

grow healthier hair the iv lounge

How to Grow Healthier Hair For most of your life you’ve had the hair on your head. You’ve probably never stopped to think about it but hair is actually a lot more complex than we give it credit. It plays a huge part in identification and even helps transmit sensory information. Did you know that by week 22 of life, a fetus has all of its hair follicles formed? At this point there are about 5 million follicles on the body and a total of one million on the head. It seems so crazy to think about but it’s actually the most amount of hair follicles that a human will ever have. That is because we do not generate any new ones throughout the course of our lives. While everyone is different, the hair on our scalp grows about 6 inches per year. Throughout its growth, it goes through three stages according to NCBI: Anagen – This is called the active phase of the hair. It’s when a new hair is formed and pushes hair that has stopped growing out of the scalp. Catagen – This is the transitional phase of the hair. It is when the hairs on the scalp turn into club hair. This just means hair that has stopped growing. It lasts for about two to three weeks. Telogen – This is the resting phase of the hair. It lasts for about 100 days. It just means that nothing really happens to the hair. Hair growth is different for everyone but it can be traced back to the testosterone in the body. It’s probably a surprise for some women but everyone produces testosterone to different degrees. The amount of testosterone you produce will usually show in how fast and thick the hair can grow. Our bodies are used to make testosterone and Estrogen. This is a balance in the body due to gender. If you’re a female you’ll have more estrogen, which allows for more hair growth on the scalp but less testosterone. They work together but an imbalance can alter the way your hair grows. There are many factors that can also go into hair growth. Some that you can control and some that you can’t. The speed at which your hair can grow also has to do with your genetics. With that being said, there are different things that you can try that speed up the hair growth process. One of these things is food! There are specific foods that you can eat so that your hair can grow longer and healthier. Some of them are Eggs, Salmon, Berries, Whole Grains, and Avocados. These foods are high in vitamins and minerals, which support healthy hair growth. Another way that you can get longer and healthier hair can be from supplements. There are specific vitamins like Biotin and Omega-3 that are used for this specific reason. We even offer biotin injections for hair growth that you can try out. It is called the Inner Beauty Cocktail. It contains Vitamin C, Biotin, and even Glutathione. These three combined can promote healthy hair and even skin! Come into the IV Lounge to hear more information about what we have to offer and get on the path to growing healthier hair today!   Bibliography “What Is The Structure Of Hair And It’s Growth.” NCBI, 29 August 2019, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK546248/.

What Are Micronutrients?

Micronutrients

What Are Micronutrients?-  Micronutrients. We’ve all heard about macronutrients and how our bodies require it in larger amounts to make sure that it functions properly. One thing that a lot of people don’t think about is Micronutrients and how much our body actually needs them. This is one of the major groups of nutrients that our body needs. This is manifested in vitamins and minerals, which are a great way to make sure our body is at its peak. The term micronutrients are used to describe the vitamins and minerals we put in our body according to Healthline. Unlike macronutrients that include proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, our body needs smaller amounts of micronutrients to function the right way. Our bodies can naturally produce vitamins and minerals. This is how we acquire micronutrients from the food we eat or the supplements we take. There are many different types of vitamins and minerals in the foods we consume. That is why it’s important for you to eat a variety of foods to get the amount that you need. Because there are so many different types of vitamins and minerals, they are categorized into four different sections: Water Soluble Vitamins- this one is pretty self-explanatory. These are the vitamins that dissolve in water. Because of this, they are not easily stored in the body and get flushed out with our urine. Fat Soluble Vitamins- these vitamins don’t dissolve in water and are best absorbed when consumed alongside a source of fat. Macro minerals- these types of minerals are needed in larger amounts to be able to perform their tasks. Some of them may be calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Trace Minerals- these are needed in smaller portions than macro minerals but are still important for the functioning of your body. Some of them may include iron, zinc, and copper. All different types of micronutrients are very important for our body to function properly. This is no matter the amount that you consume. They can make sure that you slim and trim, just in time for summer. They fight off diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, and even heart disease. Because we need these vitamins and minerals so much, a deficiency can cause serious problems with your health. You will start noticing that your body isn’t functioning the way it once was and it can even require medical help. IV Therapy is a great way to be able to get all the micronutrients that you may need. Make sure that you try some of our IV Cocktails and IM shots. One of them is our Immune Support Cocktail. It includes Zinc that helps reduce symptoms of sickness. They can help make sure your body is at peak health and even add many other benefits. You’ve probably heard people say to take Vitamin C to prevent you from getting sick and I hope you’ve been listening. The right amount of Vitamin C can be the epitome of overall health. So what are the secrets of vitamin C? Vitamin C is mainly known to boost immunity. That is the number one reason that people even take it to begin with. There is a thing known as lymphocytes. They are basically just white blood cells in your body that help fight off infection. Vitamin C helps with the production of them so that you’ll be stronger. We all know that our heart is the most important organ in our body. With that being said, it would be terrible if something were to happen to it. While there are many factors that can increase the risk of heart disease, one of them is high blood pressure. The good news is that Vitamin C can lower the risk of those factors. This means also reducing the risk of heart disease. While discussing which type of Vitamin C you should take, it’s important that everyone knows that a diet of about 500 mg of daily may reduce these effects. If it gets to the point that it is interfering with your day-to-day life then make sure to contact your physician. Taking The Sun Rays Head On Today

taking the sun rays head on IV Lounge

Taking the Sun Rays Head On Today Summer’s approaching and that means everyone is breaking out their running shoes and eating healthier. A lot of what everyone does in preparation is so that they can walk out on the beaches and pool looking their best. No matter where you live, summer is the season to enjoy and lay back with your family. Let’s not forget sitting back and enjoying the heating rays of the sun. It’s no secret that this vacation time is a time where you want to be looking your best but what about feeling your best? Here are some things you can do to make sure you’re taking the sun rays head on. Summer brings on a lot of strong rays and a lot of people forget to take care of their well being at this time. They are so focused on looking their best that they forget what’s inside also matters. It’s important to make sure that the thing you eat or drink while on vacation is going to have a positive impact on how you look while you’re taking the town. While the sun offers a lot of positive benefits, it can also be hazardous to your skin. The UV rays that the sun emits goes through our skin and can be really harmful if we decide to stay out for too long. The melanin in our skin is what protects us from the sun’s rays. That’s why fair skinned people burn easier. No matter how much melanin our skin has, we all probably know the effects of a sunburn. Our skin burns and all of a sudden we regret falling asleep in the sun while reading that book. This is when the UV rays of the sun reach the inner skin layers and cause skin cells to damage. Other than being damaging to the skin, according to Our Kids Mom, it may also cause premature aging. Over time you may start to notice an appearance of spots and even wrinkles that have formed on your skin. Not only is it the cause of the sun but it is also the cause of improper after care. You may not think about this but your hair can also get damaged with the intense sun rays that summer brings. It’s good to make sure that you are taking the right steps in making sure that the sun rays aren’t ruining your hair. Using things like hair masks and even hats can help with the damage. The more time you spend in the sun, the more you’ll start feeling your hair get dry and sticky. Out of the usual products like sunscreen and hair masks, a very important summer essential to counteract the effects of the sun is the Inner Beauty Cocktail. Its sole purpose is to rehydrate your skin and ensure that your hair grows to its healthy potential. This beauty IV Cocktail has different elements like Vitamin C, Glutathione, and Biotin. They will go into your bloodstream and make sure that you feel more refreshed for your vacation within minutes. For the sake of your skin and hair, make sure to contact us today at the IV Lounge to make sure that the summer sun rays aren’t slowly turning your skin to a wrinkled dehydrated mess!   Bibliography Heather. “The Pros and Cons Of Sun Exposure.” Our Kids Mom, http://www.ourkidsmom.com/pros-cons-sun-exposure/.

What Happens When We Sleep?

What Happens When We Sleep? The IV Lounge

What Happens When We Sleep?  You’d think that sleeping would be a pretty easy concept right? A lot of us don’t really think about what happens when we sleep.Well it turns out that it’s more difficult than we thought. When you go to sleep, your body goes through a series of changes that are vital to the health of your body. It will allow your brain and body to slow down after being at high energy all day. This will promote recovery and better mental performance when you’re awake. Did you know that when you sleep your body actually goes through about four to five cycles every night? According to the Sleep Foundation those are then broken down into about four individual sleep stages. Sounds difficult right? While some may say yes, if you know enough about these cycles then maybe you can even tell what cycle you’re on at a specific point in the night! In stage one this is usually when you begin to doze off and transition into sleep. Later that makes its way into stage two. The body and mind will slow down and make it easier for you to sleep. You’ll notice it’s easier to be woken up in these two stages. Stage three is where you experience deep sleep. That is when our body is in recovery mode. Our brain activity will slow down and will show pulses of activity. This will help prevent any awakenings. After that comes stage four, which is REM sleep. During this period of time,  your brain will shoot back up to levels that are similar to when you’re awake. At this point you will start to experience most of your dreams. This all sounds so crazy right? Believe it or not, each sleep cycle takes between 70-120 minutes. That is why it’s so important for you to go through all cycles because if you don’t end up doing that, you are missing out on an important process of your recovery. This is when the topic of any sleep disorders comes into play. A lot of people experience things like Insomnia or even Hypersomnia. Both can have negative effects on the body in the long run so it’s important to check in with your doctor and see what the best way to go about that can be. We offer a Relax Shot that can give you some of that energy you are missing. It is used on so many people to help them get the sleep that they have been wanting. With a combination of amino acids and magnesium that is put together and given intravenously, it is known to help you sleep better, relieve anxiety, and even any migraines you may be experiencing. To hear more about this, call us at the IV Lounge today. Our registered nurses and physicians will be able to get you started on a plan that works best for you.   Bibliography Suni, Eric. “What Happens When You Sleep.” Sleep Foundation, 30 October 2020, https://www.sleepfoundation.org/how-sleep-works/what-happens-when-you-sleep.

Vitamin-D: The Sunshine Vitamin

Vitamin-D: The Sunshine Vitamin The IV Lounge

Vitamin-D: The Sunshine Vitamin As a kid you’ve probably heard your parents talk about how it’s good to be in the sun for a while. This is because of Vitamin-D.  According to Examine we need about 24 micronutrients for human survival. the sunshine vitamin is one of them. The human body produces it as a response to sun exposure. This is an essential Vitamin for your body because it promotes healthy bones and teeth. Believe it or not, it can even protect you from different diseases like Type-1 Diabetes. While this Vitamin has many important functions, the most vital is regulating the absorption of calcium and phosphorus. It’s important that you get enough because this will ensure that you have normal growth and bone development. Sadly, if your body doesn’t get enough of this Vitamin, you’re at risk of developing bone abnormalities like osteomalacia (soft bones) or osteoporosis (fragile bones). Vitamin-D deficiency isn’t a common occurrence because the sun is usually available, but it can still happen. There are many factors that go into why someone may develop a deficiency. It ranges from things like using sunscreen to living in high polluted areas, spending too much time indoors, and having darker skin With so many factors that could limit the amount of sunlight some people get, it’s important for you to understand that there are different ways that you can acquire Vitamin-D. There are a few foods that contain Vitamin-D naturally. This is still a great way to get some of the extra vitamins you need. Some of these foods are: Salmon Sardines Egg Yolk Shrimp Since there aren’t many foods that contain this Vitamin, and the sun can’t always be at everyone’s disposal, there are supplements that you can take. These supplements will be able to provide you with the proper amount of Vitamin-D your body needs to function correctly. One of the most efficient is Vitamin injection therapy.  I know it can sound scary, but it’s such a quick way to get some more Vitamin-D running through your body and avoid a deficiency. At the IV Lounge we have a Vitamin-D shot filled with 50,000 IU that will help balance the “Sunshine Vitamin” in your body. This way a Vitamin-D deficiency will be the last thing on your mind. Infrared Sauna: Before or After a Workout?

Infrared Sauna: Before or After a Workout? The IV Lounge

Infrared Sauna: Before or After a Workout?  An infrared Sauna is meant to feel like a warm hug and sometimes you just don’t want to let go. There has been a lot of talk about when is the right time to go into a sauna. A warm hug is as close to an explanation as I can get. Sometimes you really just don’t want to let go of a warm hug so going into the sauna before a workout will probably make you unmotivated to actually get anything done. Now that you know that partaking in the wonders of an infrared sauna is better AFTER your workout,  Pro Series is here to help us explain why: Loss of Energy- One of the main purposes of a sauna is to relax you. You’ll notice that after a session you’ll have a better night’s Doing it before a workout won’t make you very productive. Your muscles won’t want to do as much work as you may want them to. Dehydration- The heat from the session will cause you to sweat a lot, which is why it’s recommended to drink a lot of water before and after. If you decide to go to the gym after, you are risking becoming severely dehydrated which won’t do your body any good. No extra burn! – When you leave the sauna, you will continue to burn calories at least 30 minutes after. It’s really great because you will be doing nothing and still burning some extra calories. If you go before the gym, these times will overlap and you won’t really have any extra calories that are being burned. Have I convinced you to go only after your workout yet? If not then keep reading. When you go to the sauna, your muscles will relax which makes them more prone to injury. Going to the gym after the fact will increase your chances of getting hurt. If you think about it, your mental state is also more relaxed so you won’t really be paying attention to the gym equipment and what you’re actually doing. The IV Lounge offers an infrared sauna to all of our customers. Not only does it offer many benefits, but it can also aid you in your fitness journey.  If saunas aren’t your thing, we also have many different IV Cocktails that will help rehydrate you while burning some calories. We have the Athletic Recovery Cocktail and even the Immune Support Cocktail for whatever needs you may have. Come give us a visit so that you can give our Infrared Sauna a try! Maybe even indulge in our other services too.     Bibliography “5 Amazing Reasons You Should Use An Infrared Sauna After A Workout.” Pro Series, 14 February 2020, https://jnhproseries.com/blogs/limitless-a-blog-for-athletes/5-amazing-reasons-you-should-use-an-infrared-sauna-after-a-workout.

Can You Prevent Jet Lag?

Can You Prevent Jet Lag The IV Lounge

Can You Prevent Jet Lag? For those that love to be on the move or love to travel, the effects of Jet Lag may not seem so foreign. This is something that will set in without us even noticing. With that being said, it still makes sure that we feel many things. Jet Lag is a physical reaction to a rapid change in time zones. It usually affects most travelers. For those that are used to always being on a plane, don’t think it doesn’t apply to you. Even for seasoned travelers like pilots and flight attendants, Jet Lag will make its presence known.  For this reason, a lot of people want to figure out if it’s something that can be cured. Sadly, Jet Lag can’t be cured but there are some steps that you can take before getting on that flight that may help you with the symptoms. Healthline makes sure you know how important it is for you to treat your body right before flying: If you’re planning on going somewhere with a big time change, you should give your body time to adjust. This means arriving early to wherever you’re planning on going. This will give your body a chance to adjust and make sure that you’re in the best shape. A lot of people think that the best way to get over Jet lag is by staying up the night prior to their flight. This is probably one of the worst things you can do! If you start your trip sleep deprived, it will make the jet lag symptoms a lot worse for you. Make sure you get enough sleep! Preparing your body before a flight might be just as important as making sure you feel better after. Before you decide to hop on the flight, it’s always a good idea to adjust your schedule before you leave. It’s good to understand the times of how things work in your destination because this can help adjust your body. Make sure you eat meals at the time you would be eating there. More importantly, make sure you’re switching your circadian rhythm. Your circadian rhythm is your body clock. It’s important to sleep when it’s nighttime at your location and wake up when the sun might be out there. This will help make the transition easier when you land. One of the last things you can do is to drink water! This is a given for anything but jet lag is known to make you very dehydrated. Staying hydrated before, during, and after your flight will ensure that you counteract the dehydrating effects of dry cabin air. While these tips may help prevent the effects of Jet Lag, everybody’s body works differently. If changing your schedule before your flight isn’t an option, there is a great way to make sure you target those symptoms. That’s by making your way down to the IV Lounge. We offer many IVs that offer a drip to counteract the effects that flying will do to you. One of our fan favorites is the Jet Lag Cocktail.
